The Community of Beatty, Oregon

In 1925 Beatty was named after Rev. J. L. Beatty, a missionary who lived on the Klamath Indian Reservation. Beatty is a popular place for outdoorsmen from all over and is known for its fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities for the entire family.

The Community of Sprague River, Oregon Zip Code 97639

There have been two different post offices in Oregon with the name Sprague River, established at different times and places.  They were both named for the stream.  The first post office was established November 12, 1873, with John W. Gearhart as the postmaster.  John A. Smith became postmaster on March 24, 1876, and the office operated with other postmasters and with some intermissions until January 31, 1883, when the name was changed to Bly.  The second Sprague River post office was established September 14, 1923, with Benjamin E. Wolford as first postmaster, to serve a well-known lumber community.  This office is west, downstream, from the old office and is about 15 miles westward of Beatty.  The Oregon, California and Eastern Railway has a station near this location.

The Community of Bly, Oregon

The little town of Bly was originally called Sprague River in 1873 by John Gearhart, but was later changed to Bly. There are around 450 people that live in this quiet community.

The Community of Fort Klamath, Oregon

A fort, named Fort Klamath, was established in 1863 by two companies of soldiers. It was a historical post during the Modoc, Snake and Paiute Indian wars. In 1879, a post office was established and later in 1889 the soldiers left Fort Klamath. Today it is a nice little town among green pastures and the Wood River is a popular fishing destination.

The Community of Midland, Oregon

Midland is about 8 miles south of Klamath Falls on Hwy 97. It was originally established in the early 1900s as a train depot to transport cattle and livestock. At one point two general stores, a hotel with a saloon, a livery stable, a warehouse for grain and a telephone office were built. Nothing of the booming little town exists today, however Midland is the home of Klamath Countys Visitor Center and rest stop.

The Community of Rocky Point, Oregon

Rocky Point is a 30 minute drive west of Klamath Falls. It is the home of Rocky Point Resort which has boat rentals and a restaurant. Upper Klamath Lake has large rainbow trout and ten miles of canoe and kayak trails throughout the National Wildlife Refuge.

The Running Y Resort, home of an Arnold Palmer 18-hole golf course and has a recreation area of 335 acres with 8 miles of hiking and biking trails. It has an 83 room lodge, the Ranch House Restaurant, a spa, sports center, resort events, and many other wonderful things.
