Keno is a peaceful community located 12 miles southwest of Klamath Falls. It was originally established on the banks of the Klamath River and slowly expanded among mountains and meadows of tall pines and ponderosas.  Only 12 miles from all the amenities you will need in Klamath Falls, Keno offers you a peaceful, country atmosphere where you can enjoy the shade of tall ponderosas, the cool, gentle waters of the Klamath River and the company of abundant wildlife.
The birth of Keno was actually started when the Whittles Ferry post office was established. The post office was named after Robert Whittles, a ferry boat operator. But that name didn't stay for very long. Early settlers tried to change the name of the post office several times, however the postal officials objected too many names including; Klamath River and Plevna, a name which survived for 9 years until the post office was named after a dog owned by postmaster Captain D.J. Ferree. His dogs name was Keno, after the popular card game. In 1926 Kenos name almost changed again to Doten, after another postmaster, but this was also turned down and so the name Keno has remained ever since.
There are approximately 1,059 residents in the Keno Real Estate area. It is part of the Klamath Falls School District and has an elementary school right up the road from the Klamath River. Older students attend Henley Jr. and Sr. high schools.
Fishing and water skiing are popular activities during the warm summer months. Rainbow trout are a popular fish sought out by avid fishermen between the Keno Dam and J.C. Boyle Reservoir. Keno also has a Sportsman Park that holds annual motorcycle and quad races.
